CONCERNED ABOUT A CHILD'S SAFETY?
For youth, family friends, relatives and others who are concerned about child safety and feel that social worker involvement is needed, here are steps you can take:
1. If the child(ren) lives in San Diego County, call the CFWB hotline to make a report (858) 560-29191. The hotline is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
*Not all calls will result in a social worker being assigned. The information provided must meet criteria for investigation. If it meets criteria for investigation, a timeframe for the social worker to make in-person contact will be selected based on the severity of the abuse/neglect being alleged.
2. Fax paperwork to the CFWB hotline to formally request an investigation. This is called a 329 and it requires the social worker to investigate and tell you within 3 weeks whether a court case will be initiated.

Fax coversheet:
Application: JV-210 Application to Commence Juvenile Court Proceedings and Decision of Social Worker

3. If you disagree with the social worker’s conclusion or haven’t heard back and it has been three weeks since you faxed your request, you can file a JV-212 form with the juvenile court. The judge may set a hearing and can order the social worker to file a case.
